The story of the design of this building began when a benefactress approached our architectural firm to request the building of a Villa in the Lavasan District. To design a space where in addition to homing her, would also be a place for welcoming conventions as well as charity events. This charity supports the gifted (elite) youth and teens who do not have the financial advantages for continuing a proper education.
Project subject: Design and implementation of the architecture, interior architecture, solidification and landscaping of an old building with a history of 80 years on a land of 700 square meters with a total area of 1000 square meters. Todays, a lot of modern spaces are established showing the superior technology of the present century and are awesome but in this project, we created a hangout to spend time slowly and quietly by the sound of flowing water and the sound of leaves.
The Ivan-Khaneh is the example of where the former single-story townhouse prototype meets the recently popular multi-story building characteristics without losing spatial qualities, such as the opportunity of outdoor living. The urban fabric, in which this project is located, initially consists of single-story housing blocks with 60% of floor area positioning in the middle of the building plot in a way that leaves a 10% open area on the north and a 30% open area on the south.
The project’s design process has been inspired by a jungle, which by the interference of tree branches and leaves in different levels, not only we created connections between the leaves which are the main areas for the visitors stay, but also created an area for the tables placement. Later on in the ideas development, the intention was creating an industrial and surreal illustrated jungle, which has disappeared in an industrial world.
