Description

The owner of this project was a girl interested in art and fashion. When she was describing her favorite home, she wanted to have a space different from routine and defined structures, she imagined an intimate and at the same time mysterious space of what is inside but cannot be seen. She was interested in holding parties and getting together with her friends while keeping her defined and specified privacy, but prior structured space in small area with its intended uses of her home could not meet her needs well.

The story of designing of this house starts from the entrance corridor; a painting on the wall , and three mirrors exactly at the entrance to the hall in such a way that the space totality cannot be seen, while the guests may experience a sense of multifaceted presence among the mirrors. The abstracted painting in dark orchid color, makes this sense stronger.

To have an integrated and larger space for parties while defining a private space, it was decided to remove the current rigid wall between bedroom and living room and replace it with a sliding partition in order to have a flexible and multi-functional space.

Partitions are made of wood in one side and mirror on the other side and rotate 360 degrees, and by being placed in different arrangements, each time give us a different feature. Furniture is also designed in a flexible way with different arrangement possibilities. Kitchen is designed integrated with saloon, some of its walls are covered in wood along the wooden surfaces of corridor.

When there is a need to a larger and uniform space suitable for holding parties in a free space without walls, the partitions are opened and folded in one side ; other times, the partitions are closed  to make a private space , in this way the bedroom, bathroom and dressing room are completely separated from living room and have their own closed space.

In this project, mirror is selected as a metaphor for representing alteration and mysterious space to respond to the owner`s needs and desires. The reflections in the mirror play role in presenting nature of this home gallery, the expressive images in dynamic communications, and each time in a different way than before in a single context. This space is a definition of interaction between people and the mirror, and this is how the interaction between users and the space are formed.
