Description
Uncertainty and ambiguity are mental states that drive thoughtful individuals to seek the truth. After experiencing doubt, one engages in discovering new facts, adding them to their repository of knowledge. In designing this project, we have utilized these concepts to attract visitors into the showroom. By disrupting conventional thought structures and creating a sense of ambiguity, we invite exploration and observation.
In this context, we have challenged traditional architectural boundaries by creating fabric walls. These fabric walls do not establish definitive boundaries; instead, they provide a greater sense of freedom within the space and prevent visual limitations. The shadows cast by these walls are dynamic, continuously defined by the interaction of people and objects, generating new perceptions daily. The resulting space is layered; these walls create layers of complexity, where moving through them reveals some elements while others remain hidden, requiring further discovery.
A key challenge in this project was adhering to the client's budget constraints, where selecting the appropriate material played a significant role in achieving substantial cost reductions. The choice of fabric as the wall material, in addition to reducing costs and construction time, was also significant from an environmental perspective, as it is recyclable and has a lower ecological impact. Ultimately, our goal with this project was to challenge traditional architectural walls and create a boundary that exists between transparency and ambiguity, prompting visitors to question what lies behind the curtain and encouraging them to explore.
