Villa 101 is Located out of the city, this residence is in a garden as one unit of a large complex of villas. In spite of the flexibility came from the big area of the site, the project faced a certain specifications and challenges such as specific shape and orientation of the site, building regulations and construction, client’s requests, etc.
Project’s site is a 128*40 square which despite its length is relatively limited in width. Because of the adjacency to the neighboring units considering the size, proportions and functions of the building – there were number of limitations to reach the design intentions like privacy, front and back yard connection, as well as some regulations regarding building placement.
The Building relationship to its environment was the basis of its design, mainly inside connection to the outside; as the building is seen as an entity in its environment. Definitely, this connection must had been achieved while privacy and functionality of the building are well considered. Due to adjacency to neighboring units on both sides in a relative close distance, the initial mass came with solid and closed surfaces on sides. This contrasts with the transparent and open surfaces on south and north sides. Two perpendicular axes formed the accesses and connections to the sides of the building from which the side axis shifted to achieve required access, light and view. Four cubes emerged by the axes and that were scaled depending on each space specific demands and qualities.
