Ferdows Villa has an area of 390 m2 and is located in a forested 1,000 m2 lot. The design is based on the combination of two independent volumes that meet the physical requirements of the project. Taking advantage of the negative spaces in the form (terraces on both floors), and combining vertical wooden surfaces with glass enclosures to make the staircase connecting the two floors, were other design ideas used to meet the projects requirements.

Some of the most important items that affected the design were:

  • The townships regulations on height and distance between buildings
  • Maximizing the landscape and maintaining all existing trees
  • Creating privacy from the neighbor on the east side
  • Maximizing views and transparency toward south-west and west, where the townships park and stream are located
  • Direct access from the kitchen and the cooks room to the exterior, without disturbing the private section of the villa
  • Multiple terraces with a variety of views for use in different seasons
  • Direct connection from the guest room to the exterior
  • Creating a transparent, vertical connection between the two floors that moves from the exterior to the interior, using stairs and an elevator with the smallest possible footprint
