Description

The “House 911” sitting on a narrow stretch of land, having access from north and south, is constructed in 8 stories, 5 residential floors, 2 parking ones and one including storages and a multi functional hall. The designers’ main challenge was to satisfy the client’s demand to have 4 residential units in various sizes and features which led to different options. After the potentials and restrictions of the project were considered the building was designed in 2 bigger-size duplex units on the top 3 floors with sunlight streaming in from the north and the south and 2 smaller-size duplex units on the first and second floors, one facing the north and the other facing the south separately.

The points considered in designing the project were as follow:
Forms and surfaces recessed and emerged out, leading them deep into the project, creating light and shade by slits on the walls, devising a new definition of terrace by locating them indoor, isolating terraces from outside to merge the green area with inside, the terraces open to the sky on the 4th and 5th floors are placed next to private and public spaces, contrast reduction in the facade by picking proper color and material texture. considering the fact that some spaces were specified for presenting artworks, it became possible to design a rigid introvert form using indirect light.
