Description
The building has been designed in three different but connected volumes; all the offices and facilities are organized in two 7 and 8 story buildings. The amphitheater and the restaurant are organized in another 2 story one. The office buildings are interconnected by four glass bridges. These complex are connected to amphitheater by a ramp which has got the potential of being used as an exhibition. This distance, difference and the connection among three buildings create a court to increase the users' permeability and the inviting sense so that the users leave the red and short volume and after crossing the court they are led into tall administrative and financial buildings. Organizing of these three volumes impressed by the following energies:
1- Capturing the view and far scene (the logic of dialogue between the work and the context): Sanandaj is a hill town, it is called “Hazar Tapa” town (having 1000 hills). These hills play roles not only in the physical construction of the town, but in the soul of it which is including thought, meanings and folk literature. Because of the distance from the ground, this project can create opportunities to reach the far scenes. Hence the following design strategies were considered:
- A: the administrative and financial buildings are divided in line of the axis whose direction is based on two main points, including the project site and a well-known hill called "Kochka Rash" (Black Stone), this axis has a 21-degree rotation from the north-south axis and its effect on Form 6 -meter gap between two buildings to install the glass bridge.
- B: The application of continuous glass surfaces in building skin and its indentations has created two panoramic and framed views of the other hills.
2- Geometry affected by the Axis 21°: organizing some of the spatial elements like the linear stairs, ramp, and indentations in building skin, the formal rotation and the direction of public corridors is based on the axis 21°.
3- The site Neighborhoods: this project has been constructed in a limited lot belonging to the telecommunication company. The neighboring units are including two office buildings (inside the site), a hotel (adjacent to the east side) and some residential apartments (adjacent to south side). Locating near the Pasdaran Boulevard, as one of main city pathways, has made this project as an urban landmark. Also the building of Kurdistan TV station, which is one of the first modern complexes in Sanandaj, is also located on the northern side. Therefore, it was necessary that this building plays memorable role in the mind of passers. In this regard, the red color was chosen with precision and audacity.
4- Functional configuration: the client had a plan to construct a building for “office” and “financial” affairs, so this duality was initially considered in the design process. After consulting with the client's team public and crowded function and the mechanical equipment room were placed on the ground, first and second floors. Therefore, the red color implies high activities in these spaces. According to the designing codes of the administrative buildings, the space cells have been designed in three main types: single rooms for senior managers, medium sized rooms with enough space for a 6 person meeting table and larger rooms with the capability of being partitioned and having enough space for maximum 6 office desks.
5- Construction challenges: On the one hand due to the lack of skilled construction workers and lack of modern construction technology as well as the issue of the earthquake in Sanandaj and due to the huge size of the building skin (10000 square meters) on the other hand, made the designer to choose Lightweight modular aluminum panels as the final cover.
