Description
The objective is to design a small prototype villa for a resort development company in Mazandaran; a coastal province in north of Iran. Humidity and intense rain falls in addition to hot summers are the climate features of the region. The villa is located in Maneli town; a small resort situated in a mountainous context with Caspian Sea beyond.
It is primarily designed with focus on local architectural pattern and therefore vernacular solution is the main design approach. Raised building, roof overhang, natural cross ventilation and perimeter site drainage are the foremost strategies in this regard. Moreover, utilizing local materials and craftsmanship helped to reduce construction cost and create an engaged building within the surrounding context.
