Description
In contemporary Iran, many projects are defined every day titled interior design, in which there is a rigid and definite space box in advance, which makes the design work passive in the production of space, and makes designers busy with matters such as decorating the space and matching the colour and texture of the materials.
This project as a 100 m2 flat workspace was an opportunity for our young office to ask is there any way to escape this fate? When the structure of the form is so definite and pre-given, can we change the game by focusing on the program instead of the form?
accordingly, Our most important question in such an exercise was how to change the subject of design from decorating the space to intervening in the stereotype of the workspace and the way of life in it.
To this end, we decided to reproduce within the project other space-times that employees usually experience after leaving work, and practically build a 100 m2 city. For this purpose, activities such as drinking in a cafe, playing in the GamRoom and stretching exercises in the gym were assembled in a miniature way, and also a wall was wholly dedicated to a board for doing brainstorm events. A triangular walkway covered with a real sports space coating connects these activities like a movie.
This red path as an interior architectural promenade respects movement in architecture and tests "a new situation between activities" that Rem Koolhaas had previously called alchemy of programs.
We tried to create a surreal situation from a very real subject and do what we believe architecture can do: suggesting different forms of living instead of different forms of form.
