This residential unit is located on the ground floor of a tower and it includes a private yard. The client had required a complete renovation and redesigning based on the new physical program. Firstly, we dismantled the building and prepared it for the new platform. The noteworthy feature of this unit is being located below the ground level making it impossible to level the slope between the unit and the yard. Nevertheless, the client had asked for maximum functionality of the yard as a major space interconnected with the unit.

This was considered as a key point in the process of designing. In order to address the issue, inside the unit we created an all-over platform, leveling with the yard, starting from the living room, ending in the master bedroom. This platform, besides solving the issue of split-level, it also functioned as a part of the furniture (TV stand, sitting bench, bed, and etc.). Regarding the space design, we prioritized the interconnection of the yard and the unit and the entrance corridors of the bedrooms were designed adjacent to the yard. This matter caused the setback of the guest room, a space generally used less.

In the center of the unit, we designed a configuration, which besides creating a movement circulation and filtering the entrance hall, it serves as the kitchen, laundry, entrance closet, air conditioning equipment, in other words, service sculpture. Considering the high ceiling of the unit and the physical program based on mezzanines, these spaces were defined and designed to serve in various functions.
