In the heart of Tehran, amidst the bustling crowds, pollution, traffic jams, and vehicle noises at their peak, The Nimad Law Firm operates in serene silence, ushering in a new era for a unique, vintage, and beautiful mansion. This historic estate, dating back to the 1940s, was erected during the 2nd Pahlavi era and currently stands within the city's old zone, once inhabited by a revered family. Evidence uncovered during renovations suggests the possibility of an even older structure, possibly from the 1920s, occupying the same grounds. The building underwent slight expansion toward the backyard, accommodating spaces like the guest room (now a meeting room), balcony, and southern rooms, either extended or added under the structural and architectural aesthetics.

Following the 1979 revolution, the mansion fell into neglect, passing through the hands of a Utility Company for the next four decades. The company repurposed it into a warehouse and a small office, hastening the building's decline towards oblivion and decay. When we discovered the property, after its second and final change of ownership, it stood in a semi-ruined state. External facades, interior joineries, and openings had endured significant damage. Furthermore, adjacent buildings, akin to these rare surviving mansions, had mostly succumbed to high-rise replacements, leaving behind limited or absent backyards.

The building's inherent value lies in its originality, identity, and modern essence, complemented by the nostalgic clay-bricked facade, innovative structural system for its time, and a charming backyard adorned with ancient, towering cypresses. One striking embellishment was a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind railing on the balcony, meticulously maintained by designers.

Our task for the designers was twofold: to reimagine the backyard for Lawyers' Association Events and to craft a modern ambiance indoors, comprising three distinct, soundproof lawyers' offices to ensure confidentiality in client negotiations, all anchored by libraries as central design elements with a dark theme. While meeting client specifications, the designers' primary focus was preserving the building's authenticity and highlighting its antiquity. Consequently, new backyard elements were envisioned in a contemporary style, distinct from the original features, extending the concept of juxtaposing modern and vintage elements within the interiors.
