Description
Project program was designing and building a gallery of turquoise silver vessels adjacent to Hashemieh boulevard in Mashhad, which is one of the important streets of the city. What was one of the most crucial challenge in designing, was short width and small area as well as irregular form of the plan. Client request was; designing a gallery which can present itself as a commercial shop for selling silver vessels of turquoise which attains its identity and become an accent element in the aforementioned district. The other clients petition, was making maximum financial gain in spite of gallery small area, through designing a welcoming gallery and urging all people to come in, and buy, apart from his/her economic ability.
To achieve these goals, design group decided to create their idea in terms of tree domains. In the urban domain, for responding to site forces, adjusting to square, and car and pedestrian view was considered. On the other hand, strategic commercial situation of the district, demands an accent element. In the concept domain, the form of the gallery inspired by irregular form geometry and color of the turquoise of the vessels and it is metaphor of these vessels. So that the gallery formed as if it is a ring as a vessel which embraces its contains; a turquoise- colored ring as well as a grid inspired by turquoise geometry.
In the function domain, with regarding the gallery shapeless plan, placement of the door and the show window was a problem that with considering the small area of the gallery and view from the square to it and pedestrian movement direction, the door was placed at the wider part of the plan and the window show, placed across the length of the gallery and adjacent to the door. On the other hand, for extending optical aspect of the space, in the eyes of users, a mirror was installed at the wall of the low-width part of the plan to make users to conceive the space wider.
