BIOGRAPHY

Mouzhan Majidi was born on 9 June 1964. He is a Iranian-British architect and was Chief Executive of Foster and Partners between 2007 and 2014. He studied architecture at Strathclyde University, graduating in 1987. As a student he received the RIBA Part 1 Design Award in 1985 and the RIBA Silver Medal for the best national diploma project in 1987. On graduation he joined Foster + Partners, working on Stansted Airport Terminal Buildingwhich was completed in 1991. In 1991 he was made an Associate and was appointed project architect in charge of two competition-winning schemes: the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge and the Lycée Albert Camus in Fréjus in southern France.

In 1992 he moved to Hong Kong as the director in charge of Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, supervising the project from inception to completion in 1998. He was also the director responsible for the new air cargo Super terminal for HACTL and the Ground Transportation Center. On his return to London he became the director in charge of Wembley Stadium. In 2004 he was made a Senior Partner.

As leader of Group 3 until 2010, he headed a team that was responsible for winning a number of major international competitions. These included the terminal complex at Beijing International Airport and the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong. He also oversaw a diverse range of cultural, educational, infrastructure, leisure, residential and transport projects, including the recently completed Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan, the Haramain High Speed Rail network in Saudi Arabia and the Slussen Masterplan in Stockholm. Most recently, Group 3 has worked on a luxury development on the Red Sea, Egypt, a super-high tower in Moscow and a mixed use masterplan on the site of the Russia Hotel, Moscow. He was appointed Chief Executive in 2007. In 2010, he was awarded Alumnus of the Year by the University of Strathclyde.
